Welcome to our family blog!
We’re glad you’ve stopped by! We
hope to be of encouragement to you, and we would love to hear from you!
Our blog originally came to be as a way to keep in touch
with our extended family when God called us to move from our home state of
Arizona nine years ago. We also love to
journal and document all that the Lord is doing day-to-day in our family.
When we first started blogging, the name of the blog was titled “Bowes
and Arrows.” A little while later, we started a new blog with its current title of “Only One Day Like
Today.”
This new name came to be as we thought of how each
and every day is a gift from the Lord. We shouldn’t take tomorrow, next week, or a year from now for granted. God gives us new and unique opportunities for
growth in Him and to minister to others each day. There will never be a day with
the exact situations/scenarios and people that God may choose to orchestrate in
our lives today. We just never know what
opportunities we might be given each day or who He may bring into our lives, to say a word of encouragement to;
to show an act of kindness to; to be His hands and feet to minister to; to learn more about His character; to grow through
a challenge or trial; or to simply enjoy and be thankful for the abundance of
blessings He has given. We are called
to surrender ourselves daily to Him, and make the most of every opportunity He
gives!
As beloved children of the One True God, saved by His grace, our family is thankful
that it is not by our own doing or works that we are saved.
(Ephesians 2:8-9) Our striving to live for Him; please Him in all we say and do; and walk
in the good deeds He has planned for us, is because He first loved us, and it is
a natural overflow of our love for Him and only by His strength. Though we daily fall short of being
all we want and should be for Him, we
praise Him that His mercies and grace are new every
morning! We are definitely a work in
progress! : -)
Have you surrendered your life to Jesus today? There is “Only One Day Like Today,” and
none of us know what tomorrow will hold!
