So early on in our adoption process, we came up with some
reasons for our craziness. : -) It is
always a good reminder for our family as we persevere through all the paperwork and waiting. And I thought we’d share it here for anyone that has been wondering about us
! ; -)
Top 10 Reasons Why We Want to Adopt
1. Defenseless people are of special
concern to the Lord. Orphans are
particularly near to God’s heart. Therefore,
we want to strive to invest our lives and money in the things that are near to His heart
and do what Jesus would do!
Ephesians 5:10 - “and find out what pleases the Lord.”
Jn. 8:29 - Jesus
said, “For I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.”
James 1:27 – “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of
our God and Father is this: to visit
orphans and widows in their distress . . . ”
Exodus 22:22 – “You shall not afflict any widow or
orphan. If you afflict him at all, and
if he does cry out to Me, I will surely hear his cry; and My anger will be
kindled, and I will kill you with the sword . . . ”
2. We can serve the Lord by serving
little ones in need.
Matthew 25:40b “To
the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of
them, you did it to Me.”
Matthew 25:35 – “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something
to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger,
and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited
Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”
3. When we receive/welcome children, we
receive/welcome the Lord.
Mark 9:36 – “Taking a child, He set him before them, and
taking him in His arms, He said to them, ‘Whoever receives one child like this
in My name receives Me . . .’ ”
4. God has given us a special desire and
pleasure in nurturing children. And we
feel HIS pleasure as we train and nurture the little ones He has given.
Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you, both to
will and to work for His good pleasure.”
5. God loves children, so we love
children.
Matthew 19:14 – “But Jesus said, “Let the children alone,
and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to
such as these.”
Mark 10:14 and Luke 17:16 - “Permit the children to come to
Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 18:10 – “See that you do not despise one of these
little ones, for I say to you, that their angels in heaven continually see the
face of My Father who is in heaven.”
6. Children are a blessing from
God! We LOVE these precious gifts He
gives. They are treasures we value
highly. The more the merrier! Adoption adds to our life more joy, more
laughter, more giggles, more smiles, more hugs, more kisses, more chuckles,
more tickles, more cuteness to adore, way more fun, more bonding as a family,
more opportunity to share God’s love and be a blessing, more delight to our
souls!
Psalm 127:5 “Blessed is the man who fills his quiver full of
them!”
7. We believe adoption is a way to reach a soul
for Christ that might not otherwise have a chance to know, love and serve Him!
8. Another child would be another arrow
in our quiver, to train and send out for the Lord’s army!
9. God has blessed our family in so many
ways, so that we can be a blessing to others! We are so grateful for all that God has given
us and the ways He has blessed our family.
We, in turn, want to give freely and be a blessing!
Matthew 10: 8 “Freely you have received, freely give.”
10. We have seven children in the home,
and a daughter and son-in-law, who are excited to have more siblings. They are anxious to wrap their arms around
another child and envelope him/her with love.
