Day Sixteen - 2nd Day in Washington, D.C.

We're finding it necessary to be quite flexible and form our plans of what to do here day-by-day.  We've had lots of variables to consider each day; whether or not we would need to check out of the campground today (which we found out around 10am that we do not :-); a stomach virus that started with Timmy on Wednesday, and hit Ted and Caroline today; stormy weather (cold, rainy and windy today!), Memorial Day crowds and events happening in the city this weekend, etc.

We decided that today might be a good day to visit many of the Smithsonian Museums with the cold, rainy and windy weather.  So we started with the Air and Space Museum, then to the Natural History Museum and lastly, the American History Museum.  Ted and Caroline headed back for the camper soon after we arrived at the Air and Space Museum. :-(   Then, they came and picked us up around 6:30 and we drove over to the Jefferson Memorial.  We walked around there a bit, and were hoping to catch the Lincoln Memorial, but it wasn't meant to be tonight, as we couldn't find our way there, and the campers were getting HUNGRY for dinner!   (Ted and Caroline are feeling much better this evening, but still not back to normal yet.  We pray that it does not affect all of us!)

I have to say that I didn't care at all for the Natural History Museum.
I don't know why I didn't expect this . . .

but it was on every sign.
I really felt very sick over it.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear you are passing a bug around and that Ted and Caroline had to miss some of the museum time. As I mentioned, my favorite museums are American History and Air & Space. Glad you got to see them. There are parts of the Natural History that are interesting, but the evolution theme can get in the way of enjoying some of that.

Hope everyone is feeling better tomorrow and you can carry on with your plans, whatever they may be. Maybe you'll be able to get your day of rest in soon. Take care everyone!!

  2. Oh, that's too bad that several of you have been sick! :-( Poor things! It's not fun being sick when you're out on the road, I am sure. We'll pray that no one else gets it and that everyone fully recovers soon!
Sounds like it's been crowded around there for the holiday. It has been crazy in Mossyrock too with all of the campers and out-of-towners.

It's really sad that the museums have to teach fairy tales. :-(

I thought it was funny how you forgot Benjamin's pants! He was probably thrilled! He's adorable with or without pants LOL I miss him so much! I miss you all so much! Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy long days to keep us updated! I love seeing all the pictures.

    Much love,
    Lydia
