Beautiful Music

The cello is back! Woo hoo!
We are sure enjoying
its rich, deep sounds!

Here the girls are practicing
for leading of worship at church.
It all sounds beautiful!
"There is no greater joy than this,
than to hear of my children walking in the truth."

Our Series of Unfortunate Events

Have you ever heard of the books titled "A Series of Unfortunate Events?" Well, we haven't read the books yet, but by the sound of their title, we figured from our experiences last week, we could write a new chapter or two, or maybe even a whole book! Nothing life threatening, but certainly life altering, as the Creator and Author of our lives continues His materful work . . . . "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." 2 Corinthians 4:17

It all started with a little vehicle collision . . . . in our driveway. No, we won't be naming any names . . . or vehicles:)

Sunday night, we had our little chickie massacre . . . . seven of our eight chickies dead in a matter of minutes. (See post "What Happened Here?")

Monday continued the revolving trips to the mechanics with three out of three of our vehicles . . . a new water pump, batteries that won't keep charged, replace U joints, belts, brakes, you name it!

Tuesday, we felt a bit sad when we learned that our case manager had a mandatory meeting in Seattle come up last minute, and would not be able to attend the local adoption consortium we had been looking soooo forward to!

We were a bit anxious on Tuesday and Wednesday, as two of our most favoritest and dearly loved people in the whole world both underwent surgeries. And our hearts ached particularly for the one that had lots of discomfort during the recovery process.

Our family's computer that we have been nursing along for a couple years finally breathed its final breath . We went off to get an inexpensive one on sale at Staples, but the store nearby didn't have any in stock. So, we drove all the way to Olympia. They had it, and were even so kind to plug it in for us to make sure it worked before we headed all the way home. Then, we got home, and realized the power cord was left there . . . in Olympia!

Victoria's cello that she had dreamt about for so long, saved up for and paid for by herself, waited many weeks for it to get new strings installed, and had been able to practice on it for just a week or two before hoping to play it at church for the first time this Sunday . . . came crashing down off its stand, breaking into several pieces!

Saturday, we received the long awaited hip and elbow x-ray report for our yellow lab Lucy's OFA certifications so the kids could go ahead and breed her next time around. (The dog has to be two year's of age to get the x-rays done.) The report came back saying her hips cannot be certified:(.

The computer cord that Staples said they would put in the mail for us on Friday should arrive to us on Monday. We waited anxiously over the weekend, to no UPS truck on Monday. Yesterday, we happened to be in the area for a doctor appointment, and thought maybe we should just stop in. The manager came out with the power cord in hand, saying it was sitting on her desk with a note to give us a store coupon, and nothing about mailing it to us:)

Last night, we made a special trip to the church to set up all our instruments and microphones for Sunday's worship since we will be away at the homeschool convention all day Friday and Saturday, we wanted to get in a good rehearsal with the microphones. For the first time ever, that we have seen, the stage was completely cleared of all the microphones and their cords!

As all nine of us piled back into the van at church, the last one in pulled the side door closed, and realized that the lock "knob" broke off inside the casing, and the broken off piece inside was jammed and would not allow the remote unclock button to unlock the door! So when we returned home, all nine of us either had to crawl out the rear of the van or by the driver/passenger seats!

But atlas! As we ponder the events of the week, we REJOICE! Not only because that is what our family is currently learning all about in the life of Paul and in the book of Phillippians, but because within these unfortunate events, there are many blessings to be thankful for!!!!!

Special Lunch Date!

Today we had a very special invite to have lunch with our new pastor's wife.
She is a very special person, an we enjoyed it very much!

First "Campfire" of the Season!

Yesterday was a fairly sunny day, and it put us in the mood for a campfire and smores!
So, we made a new fire ring down by our big Big Leaf Maple tree, and invited a few of our friends :-)

Real Treasure Hunt!

Some very dear friends of ours, the Anderson Family, recently had to move from our area to a new home on the other side of the state. We miss them very much. But before they left, they told us about a little treasure hunt they planned for Timothy and Joseph after they were away. And last week we received this map in the mail :-)

This is the front of the map,
with the large picture of how to get to the treasure hunt area.
This is the back of the map,
with the finer details of how to find the "fort"!
Here are Timothy and Joseph, with their fearless guides!
Woo hoo! The fort has been found!
(That is a "I'm-super-happy" scrunchy face Joseph is making!)
And then the treasures were found!
It was all sooooo exciting!
Inside their "loot" bags, they found some very yummy candy
and a dinosaur that flashes many colors of lights when squeezed!
What a perfect treasure!
(Both treasure hunters thoroughly enjoyed their candy,
and then took their dinosaurs
to bed with them last night!)
And now it is time to play in the awesome fort!
Thank you Anderson Family
for such a fun time and sweet memories made!

Timothy Learns How to Bake Cookies!

Yesterday, Lydia wanted to help Timothy
learn how to bake cookies!
We thought it would be fun for him
to be able to enter some
into the upcoming Spring Youth Fair.
By the look on his face, he looks very happy about the whole idea!
Of course, it also takes lots of determination and concentration!

Cookies anyone?

Easter Lambs

The last of our lambs have arrived . . . on Easter!
The mom is Maybelle, and as you can see, she looks a bit like a panda bear:)
She had twin girls, one all black one, and one all white one!
Aren't they cute?

Snow Fun!

Since we didn't have much snow here at the house this winter,

and there has been a fresh dusting of snow the last two days,

we couldn't resist going for a little drive and getting out to play in it!

Look for the snowballs flying!
